Finnish Nationals 2014
The Finnish Nationals 2014. Three days and 8 races.
Lenny EST790 helmed by Tonu Toniste wins in great style. Five wins out of eight races tell it all. After three days overall 10 points.
The battle for silver was open coming to day 3. Navy Sailing got a OCS from race 7 and Fundanything.com finished 3rd. Coming to the last race the wind picked up and the entire fleet had a tight race.
Fundanything.com finishing 2nd behind Lenny secured them silver. And Navy Sailing finishing 4th in the last race and overall 3rd.
The Pohjola Trophy goes back to Lenny. Next year a new attempt to get the trophy to Finland:-)

Bronze – Navy Sailing FIN836, 18 points
Final results after 8 race
Finnish Nationals day 2. What a superb day for the Melges 24. The race committee gave the fleet four superb races in 18 – 24 knots of northerly winds.
Race 3 was from the start a domination of Fundanything.com FIN-742. The team extended their lead on every leg. And took a win with a clear margin to Navy Sailing FIN-836. Third was Lenny.
Race 4. The northerly wind and waves on the bottom half of the course picked up. Lenny got their speed together and accelerated from the start to the lead. And dominated the race. Behind Lenny the battle for 2 – 5 was wide open until the last downwind leg. Node Sailing Team FIN-529 took 2nd and Fundanything.com came from the far left corner of the downwind leg with full speed leaping from 5th to 3rd during the last leg. Leaving Candy FIN-437 4th and Navy Sailing 5th.
Race 5 & 6. Wind speed increased even more and giving the fleet even more thrills & spills. Lenny taking their 2nd and 3rd bullet. Leaving Fundanything.com, Navy Sailing and Node Sailing Team fighting for 2 – 4 placings.
After day 2 the overall top 3 standings:
1. Lenny 8 pts
2. Navy Sailing 9 pts
3. Fundanything.com 11 pts
Finnish Nationals day 1. The name of the game – rain, wind off & on + “some shifts”. The RC executed two nice races for the fleet to 6 – 8 knots of wind.
Navy Sailing FIN-836 helmed by Thomas Hacklin kept up their consistant pace taking two bullets. Navy Sailing was challenged in race 1 by Lenny EST-790 helmed by Tonu Toniste and in race 2 by Fundanything.com FIN-742 helmed by Tomi Hakola.
So after day 1 the top three boats are:

2. FIN-742 Fundanything.com 5pts(3,2)
